DESCRIPTION: How can a sense of place help us write and imagine a positive climate future? With climate anxiety leaving many feeling hopeless, how can literature help writers and readers imagine that a balanced, healthy future is possible? \n\nJoin us for a generative writing workshop where you will explore the Pine Barrens, have dedicated free time to write, and collaborate with other writers. By connecting with the outdoors and a sense of place, participants can write and share their ecological experiences in the Pine Barrens. We will discuss how writing about this experience can foster intimacy, allowing readers everywhere to appreciate their own home ecology. Ultimately, we will focus on how we can create a positive climate future in our backyard, like the Pine Barrens, which can serve as a launching point for creativity. \n\nLed by Kayla Harris in partnership with the Pinelands Alliance. Kayla works at the Pinelands Alliance as Membership Manager. She has a BA in English from the University of Delaware and is an MFA candidate in Creative Writing at LSU New Orleans.
